Thursday, May 01, 2003 This blog is for those who would like to learn from the privacy of your keyboard. It is to reflect an eclectic approach and is not necessarily in linear fashion. I make no apologies for this, and I hope you can divine some very helpful info. Remember to zero the scale and to make sure the notches are right before reading. Don't forget to use tenths in all calculations on the test. V=M/D You shoulsd have all had an opportunity to weigh a few rocks and check for problems. Bring in all labs tomorrow! End of marking period. posted by James | 10:49 AM Just a blog before I meet with my students. Today I am going to do the measure the mineral, use the density chart, and find out the volume. Find the mass using the scale, then look at chart and use page 304 305 red tex formula to determin the volume. I will add it later in the day. Remember that the sedimentary and metamorphic rock labs are coming up and you should be preparing for them. Also, many of the answers are not in you, but rather they are in the resources that will be given you like ESRT and questions on the test. posted by James | 10:47 AM Wednesday, April 30, 2003 How to measure the longitude and detrmine time Today focused on the performance station 3. Using the tape , protractor, and determining how many degrees per hour the Earth rotates were discussed. posted by James | 4:09 PM Tuesday, April 29, 2003 Rock ID The best way to identify the rocks were by color and texture. I also was able to discuss some of the best ways to do the mineral ID. Some of the materials such as sulfur, galena, magnetite, and olivine were discussed. posted by James | 4:36 PM |
